Who are Interworld Media?

To quote them, Interworld Media are a “Inclusive, forward-thinking, independent digital record label and creative collective based in Sheffield.”

From Windows 95 to Y2K

This was a site I made 4 years ago, and I was commissioned to give it a new art direction. We originally went with something more akin to a vapourwave, windows 95 aesthetic and go for a more sleeker y2k theme.

Old Design

Update

Adding some method to the madness, I decided to go with a grey background with a disjointed pattern featuring the logo symbol. I additonally designed a new logo as well.

Concentrating on the madness side of the design. I also designed these murals that were inspired by weather forecasts and alien homeworlds. Perfectly fitting Interworld Media’s blend of digital and otherworldly bazaar of content.

Logo & Art Direction

The namesake of the app is another spelling of “Lake”. The reason for the name is that I liken the concept of idea generation, similar to a body of water. Letting inspiration ‘flow’ or to take from somewhere ‘deep’. That and the phrasing of the name allowed for a clever nod to the app’s functionality: L(ai)ke. Colour-wise, I wanted to go for a holographic aesthetic. Blending both the technological use of AI and the calmness of water.
